John Wick star Lance Reddick was missing from the ‘In Memoriam’ montage at the Oscars 2024 until the very final second, and even then his name appeared as part of a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it wall of text.
Oscars viewers criticised this year’s farewell montage, which used a series of new camera angles and occasionally obscured the TV audience’s view of the names and images on screen.
Then fans noticed that the likes of Reddick, who died in March 2023 at the age of 60, were only visible in very small text on the final card of the montage.
This card also featured other big names including beloved British filmmaker Terence Davies, Ahsoka star Ray Stevenson, and singer-songwriter Sinéad O’Connor.
Many of the biggest names the movie world has lost this year were featured, including Friends star Matthew Perry, Mary Poppins actor Glynis Johns, Rocky star Carl Weathers, and legendary director William Friedkin.

However, the treatment of those that did not feature at all — or were left out until that final title card — left a sour taste in the mouths of those who had wanted to see them honoured.
Elsewhere at the Oscars, Oppenheimer was the big winner. Christopher Nolan’s biopic won seven awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, as well as Best Actor for Cillian Murphy. The stars of other movies walked the Oscars red carpet but, frankly, they needn’t have bothered.
But it’s not just about the awards, with more of the biggest moments from the Oscars including a naked John Cena (seriously!) and a Ryan Gosling musical performance for the ages.
