Lionsgate’s John Wick franchise has an immersive fandom. With the success of the previous installments, the studio has announced the expansion of the John Wick franchise. However, it is not just with another installment to the franchise, as the first spinoff Ballerina is coming out next year.

“What is official is that, as you know, Ballerina is the first spinoff that comes out next year. We’re in development on three others, including five and including the television series, The Continental, which will be airing soon. We’re building out the world and when that 5 movie comes, it will be organic — will be organically grown out of how we’re starting to tell those stories. But you can rely on a regular cadence of John Wick,” Lionsgate’s Joe Drake said.

Fans almost believed the end of Keanu Reeves’ John Wick after his apparent death in Chapter 4 of the franchise. However, the series is far from ending as the studio announced the fifth installment right after the success of Chapter 4 where he was settling every score and trading his life for a final High Table duel.

The Sad Truth About John Wick’s Quest for Peace

John Wick’s apparent death in Chapter 4 could be the ultimate strike for his quest for peace attempting to fake his death to escape further conflict with his former employer, High Table. However, as the studio teased the development of Chapter 5, the theory of his friend Caine (Donnie Yen) and Winston (Ian McShane) helping fake Wick’s death could confirm its validity.

But the sad truth for the character remains, he would never be at peace although Wick is desperate for it. But his disturbed state after the death of his wife Helen and the killing of his dog by intruders pushed the former assassin into a revenge mission which never ended as he wanted to. It created a chain of events resulting in gruesome violence and a constant burst of life-threatening attacks on him. Now, the resurrection of Wick in the fifth movie could be more violent as it resembles teasing a wounded animal.

Although the plot is still under wraps, one thing is crystal clear, Wick must return and his return is the very foundation of the story of Chapter 5. Also, it is safe to assume that his quest for peace will be the driving force of the narrative.
