Good Vibrations tells Belfast’s story of hope and resilience through dark times through the rise of punk music in the city during The Troubles.

It follows the story of Terri Hooley, who opened the iconic Good Vibrations record store and music label in the city in the late 1970s.

The store provided a lifeline for many young people trying to break through the sectarianism that was rife in Northern Ireland at the time, choosing to rise above through their love of music.

Good Vibrations was written by Colin Carberry and Glenn Patterson and was based on the BAFTA-winning film of the same name, and is produced by the Lyric Theatre, Belfast.

The show features a 12-person cast of actor-singer-musicians, including Cat Barter as Marilyn Hyndman, Connor Burnside as Billy Doherty, Darren Franklin as Dave, Marty Maguire as George Hooley, Odhrán McNulty as Ronnie Matthews, Chris Mohan as Graham ‘Getty’ Marshall, Christina Nelson as Mrs.

Hooley and Mrs. Sharkey, Jolene O’Hara as Polly, Gavin Peden as Brian Young, Dylan Reid as Feargal Sharkey/Greg Cowan, Glen Wallace as Terri Hooley, and Jayne Wisener as Ruth Carr.

Good Vibrations is running at the Irish Arts Center until July 19 and tickets can be found at irishartscenter.org.
