A Liam Neeson favorite has been added to Netflix and fans have been eager to watch it
If there’s one thing we know Irish actor Liam Neeson does well, it’s a tense thriller movie. One of his best has just been added to Netflix and fans are rediscovering just how brilliant it was.
Also starring Julianne Moore, Michelle Dockery, and Lupita Nyong’o, Non-Stop was originally released in 2014 and grossed an impressive $222.8 million at the box office against a budget of $50 million. The flick sees Neeson take to new heights as the story follows a tense and at times terrifying place hijacking.
Since it was added to Netflix, it has entered the streamer’s top ten movie list with subscribers eager to revisit the action-packed thriller. Jaume Collet-Serra directed the flick and it was co-written by John W. Richardson, Chris Roach, and Ryan Engle.
Like many of Neeson’s most tense films, the star is in a race against time to save the day. The Co Antrim native plays Bill Marks, a former NYPD officer turned US Air Marshal.
Marks is a struggling alcoholic who is dealing with his daughter’s untimely death. He has lost his passion for work but when a transatlantic flight is hijacked, he has to jump into action.
Marks receives a text telling him that unless 150 million dollars is transferred to an offshore account, someone will die every 20 minutes. He must find the terrorist in time to save everyone on the flight.
While critics were divided on the movie, Netflix users are clearly eager to watch the nearly decade-old movie after its release onto the streaming service. “Collet-Serra confirms his status of one of Hollywood’s most inventive genre artists,” said one Rottem Tomatoes reviewer.
While Non-Stop was made a decade ago, the 71-year-old hasn’t slowed down in showing the world that he remains one of Hollywood’s leading action and thriller actors. His next action-thriller, the Sky original movie Retribution, also sees him in a tense race against time and is set for release later this month.
Meanwhile, In the Land of Saints and Sinners will have its premiere at Venice Film Festival. Neeson stars in the Irish thriller alongside Ciaran Hinds, Kerry Condon, Colm Meaney, Jack Gleeson, Sarah Greene, Desmond Eastwood, Conor MacNeill, Seamus O’Hara, Valentine Olukoga and Mark O’Regan.
