Fans have been loving Liam Neeson’s latest thriller so it got us thinking about some of his more underrated movies
With a career as long as Liam Neeson’s, it’s to be expected that many of his acting roles would get overlooked in the huge selection of projects he has done.
After fans recently enjoyed his latest thriller after it dropped on Netflix, we’re looking at another overlooked Liam Neeson movie for cinema lovers to enjoy.
In The Land of Saints and Sinners recently dropped on Netflix for viewers in the UK and Ireland and has shot up the charts. The film also stars Kerry Condon, Colm Meany, and Ciaran Hinds, and is set in 1970s Northern Ireland amid The Troubles.
Despite a number of negative reviews from critics, where the film was criticized for its portrayal of Irish stereotypes, it has proven to be a hit with viewers. Some even went as far as to compare it to an Irish Avengers.
Neeson has a huge number of action-packed thrillers under his belt. However, one that often gets overlooked is one he starred in with a fellow Star Wars alumnus.
2002’s K-19: The Widowmaker stars Neeson alongside Harrison Ford. The film follows the team onboard the Soviet Union’s newly launched submarine, K-19, which suffers a major snag during its maiden voyage.
“It is now up to Captain Alexei Vostrikov and Officer Mikhail Polenin to avoid a major nuclear disaster,” the description reads. Much like In the Land of Saints and Sinners, it received mixed reviews when it was released.
“K-19 makes an American audience care about Communists trapped between a rock and a hard place deep beneath the sea,” said one reviewer.
Another wrote: “A taut, skillfully-executed thriller anchored by two rock-solid leading men.”
