Superhero movie starring Liam Neeson gets 4K Ultra HD upgrade

Liam Neeson’s hit film Darkman is to undergo a 4K Ultra HD upgrade. The 1990 film, which starred the Northern Ireland actor as Darkman Peyton Westlake will be upgraded by Scream Factory.

Scream Factory said Raimi’s Darkman will be hitting 4K on February 20, 2024, with optional SteelBook and Shout! exclusive bundles.

Sam Raimi directed the film, based on a short story he wrote that paid homage to Universal’s horror films of the 1930s. It followed scientist Peyton Westlake, played by Neeson, who is brutally attacked, disfigured, and left for dead by a ruthless mobster after his girlfriend, attorney is involved in a corrupt business deal.

After a treatment to cure him of his burn injuries fails, Westlake develops super-human abilities as he hunts down those who disfigured him.
Sequel Darkman II: The Return of Durant was released in 1995 followed by Darkman III: Die Darkman Die in 1996.
