Newcastle receive last-minute £33m offer which could have huge impact on Anthony Gordon’s future and PSR
Newcastle need to make a major sale before June 30 to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules
Newcastle United have accepted an offer worth in the region of £33 million for one of their biggest young talents as the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR) deadline looms.
The Magpies need to make a major sale before the PSR deadline on June 30 or they risk a potential points deduction for next season.
So far, the club have struggled to get any deals over the line. Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak have been linked with big-money moves away from St James’ Park in recent days.
But it appears Eddie Howe may keep two of his star players after Newcastle received a £33 million bid from Brighton for highly-rated Gambia international Yankuba Minteh.
Minteh, who was always keen on remaining in the Premier League, has travelled over from Gambia and is preparing to undergo a medical.

Minteh joined Newcastle from Danish side Odense Boldklub last summer for £6 million and impressed on loan at Feyenoord last season. He notched 10 goals and six assists in 27 league games.
Eddie Howe will likely be disappointed by the sale of a player he rates so highly but with the PSR deadline incoming, a sale appears on the horizon.
“He’s done really well and he’s attacked the challenge of going on loan to a new league with new teammates, played in the Champions League, prestigious competitions and he’s done really, really well this year,” Howe said about Minteh’s recent loan spell.
“I think he can be very proud of his efforts.”
Howe added: “I tend not to directly communicate, I find you’re better off letting the players concentrate on their own situation and not give them too many distractions but let’s wait and see what happens in this next step.”
As mentioned earlier, Anthony Gordon has been linked with a move in recent days. Liverpool have expressed an interest in signing the winger, who is currently on international duty with England at Euro 2024.
Isak, meanwhile, is attracting interest from Chelsea.
