Carlos Yulo speaks up for girlfriend Chloe amid mom’s ‘red flag’ tag

Olympic Games double gold medalist Carlos Yulo has spoken up to address matters hounding his strained relationship with his mom, Angelica, which the latter claimed stemmed from his romance with girlfriend Chloe Anjeleigh San Jose.

Following his historic two gold medal wins in the Paris Olympics 2024, the Philippine gymnastics pride released a video with Chloe, making clarifications about the mismanagement of his finances as well his mom’s disapproval of Chloe.

In the said video, Carlos defended Chloe from his mom’s discernment on her being a “red flag” based on her actions and way of dressing up.

“Hinusgahan niya po agad si Chloe sa pananamit at sa pag-akto po niya,” Carlos said of his mom, explaining that she grew up in Australia so as to having a completely different culture.

The gymnast also belied his mom’s insinuations that he might go broke because of Chloe.

Carlo also related that Chloe was the one to even the one who backed him up in instances when he had nothing to spend since his finances were kept from him by his mom.

The gymnast also admitted that his relationship with Chloe indeed caused the feud with his mom after he started setting boundaries with their relationship.

Chloe chimed in to share that she extended her apologies to some of Carlos’ family members when they felt left out when they spent time in Baguio together.

The couple furthered that Chloe’s family eventually met with Carlos’s family twice to settle things between them, and even created a group chat to address the issues thrown against Chloe, which Carlo’s mom left.

“Even though my family knew na madami na siyang pinopost, my family still welcomed them, treated them with respect and with no judgment na pinaringgan nila yung side ng mom mo [on] what she had to say about me and our relationship,” stated Chloe.

Carlos ended the video, acknowledging his mom’s congratulatory message for him, stressing that he had long forgiven her.

Napatawad ko na po kayo long time ago,” he said.
