The Chelsea player has posted on social media in response to Enzo Fernandez’s racist video.

The first Chelsea player has responded to Enzo Fernandez being filmed singing a racist song aimed at France national team.

After Argentina’s Copa America triumph, Fernandez shared a video of himself and his teammates chanting a derogatory song against France.

The racist chant goes: “They play for France, but their parents are from Angola. Their mother is from Cameroon, while their father is from Nigeria. But their passport says French.”

Several Argentina players can be seen chanting the song on a team bus, with the chant seemingly starting towards the end of an Instagram live before the Chelsea midfielder was instructed to stop filming.

The French Football Federation have released a statement as they condemned the chant while filing a legal complaint.

Chelsea boasts a number of French players, including Wesley Fofana who has bravely called out his own teammate on social media.

He posted a clip of Fernandez singing the chant, accompanied with the caption: “Football in 2024: uninhibited racism,” complete with three facepalming emojis.

What’s more, Fofana has appeared to unfollow Fernandez on Instagram – as has his Chelsea teammates Axel Disasi and Malo Gusto, who are also both French.

They’re not the only French players at Chelsea as the Blues also have Benoit Badiashile, Christopher Nkunku and Malang Sarr on their books.

New Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca seems to have an issue on his hands, having begun pre-season ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Fernandez joined the Stamford Bridge outfit in a package worth £106.8 million in January 2023.

He’s made 63 appearances across all competitions since moving to England.

Fofana, who was snapped up from Leicester City for an initial £70 million, suffered a crushing ACL injury, ruling him out of the 2023/24 campaign.

The defender has played just 20 games in all competitions for the club.
