FRANCE-PORTUGAL: THESE PLAYERS WHO RISK A SUSPENSION IN THE SEMI-FINAL IN THE EVENT OF A YELLOW CARD

Four French players, including Kylian Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann, will be suspended for a possible Euro 2024 semi-final if they receive a yellow card during France-Portugal.

A nasty foul can be costly. For the Euro 2024 quarter-final against Portugal, four players from the French team will be suspended for the possible semi-final if they receive a yellow card: Ousmane Dembélé , Antoine Griezmann , Kylian Mbappé and Aurélien Tchouameni .

On the Portuguese side, the players in danger are even more numerous: João Cancelo , Cristiano Ronaldo , Francisco Conceição , João Palhinha , Pedro Neto , Rúben Neves .

Cards reset after quarters

At the Euro, players are suspended after two warnings distributed in two different matches. It is this rule which explains the suspension of Adrien Rabiot (sanctioned against Belgium) for France-Portugal .

The card counter is, however, reset to zero at the start of the semi-finals, so that players do not risk being deprived of the final.

If Kylian Mbappé, already reprimanded against Austria, is cautioned (or sent off) against Portugal, he will be suspended for the next match. But if he is not cautioned against the Portuguese and the Blues qualify, he will start from scratch.
