Klopp could make a shock return to management.

Jurgen Klopp has a surprise stance on a potential next managerial role that nobody would have predicted.

Klopp left Liverpool at the end of last season after almost nine years in charge at Anfield.

The 57-year-old announced his decision to leave Liverpool in January, explaining that he was “running out of energy” after two decades in management.

Klopp ruled out an immediate return to management, admitting that he needed a rest.

That said, he did insist that he won’t be putting his feet up for to long.

“It’s out of the question that I’ll stop working altogether,” Klopp told the Willipedia podcast after leaving Liverpool.

“But I don’t see myself continuing at the same pace as before at the moment.”

If Klopp wants to return to management but avoid the pressure and intensity of coaching in a top league, then international football could be a good option for him.

During a Q&A session in The Athletic, Merseyside football reporter Simon Hughes revealed that there are only two nations that Klopp would be open to managing.

“The only national job he’d take would be Germany. Or maybe, USA,” Hughes said during the Q&A.

With Julian Nagelsmann impressing as Germany boss and signing a contract extension with the DFB until 2026, there seems little chance that Klopp will take charge of his national team any time soon.

The U.S Soccer, however, could soon come knocking on Klopp’s door.

The governing body of football in the United States is conducting a “comprehensive review” after the USMNT suffered group stage elimination at the 2024 Copa America.

The tournament hosts suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Panama in their second group match before a 1-0 loss to Uruguay on Monday confirmed their fate.

A statement from U.S Soccer technical director Matt Crocker read: “Our tournament performance fell short of our expectations. We must do better.

“We will be conducting a comprehensive review of our performance in Copa America and how best to improve the team and results as we look towards the 2026 World Cup.”

That review could result in the dismissal of head coach Gregg Berhalter, just 12 months after he was reinstated by U.S. Soccer following his suspension and investigation into past conduct.
