MANILA — While the show’s trailer shows hints at infidelity, actor Jericho Rosales said that “Lavender Fields” will be about more than just that topic.

Rosales plays the role of Tyrone, who is the husband of Iris (Janine Gutierrez), and sometimes Arthur, who is the love interest of Jasmine (Jodi Sta. Maria), who will later on be Lavender Fields.

He has been in roles with the same topic such as “The Legal Wife,” “Halik,” among others.

“Siyempre, nung pinanood mo ‘yung infidelity sa trailer, mas masaya ‘yun diba … culturally it’s more sounds, more appealing siguro, I don’t encourage that but it’s more than that. My character alone, he is not kaliwete, it just looks like that,” Rosales told reporters in an interview.

The dual roles of Tyrone and Arthur are challenging, said Rosales, as he lives a double life and has more material to work with.

“This character lives a double life, he always make hard decisions, he always makes mistakes, he always get himself in trouble and now he keeps on hiding and hiding until there’s nowhere to hide,” the actor said.

“Ang dami kong pwedeng paglaruan sa character na ‘to, that made me say yes, where I’m at in my life, and I just always want to have fun and during that time it seems that this is the team that I need to be working with,” he added.

What makes Rosales more excited about the show is that it narrates how dark people can get, in order to protect their interests.

“This show is not just about infidelity. Trust me, I promise you, it’s not about infidelity because when it was offered to me, it centers on double life, living a double life, people pretending to be who they’re not, and people having intentions,” the actor said.

“The good thing about this show, the exciting thing about this show and baka magugulat kayo, it’s just, everyone wants something. You can say, everyone can be dark and everyone is capable of doing bad things to protect their interests. It is a game more than anything else,” he added.

Asked what viewers can learn from his character, Rosales said: “To never give up on their dreams and I guess life is not going to be about power, not always going to be about wealth, and sometimes the price for simplicity could cost you your own. That’s how difficult this character is to play.”

New episodes of “Lavender Fields” will air on September at Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, TV5, and Netflix.
