Leny Yoro joined Manchester United from Lille last week.

Manchester United fans have been reacting to new signing Leny Yoro’s latest comment about joining the club.

Last week, it was confirmed that 18-year-old French defender Yoro had completed a move to United from Ligue 1 side Lille.

A club statement read: “Manchester United is pleased to confirm that Leny Yoro has joined the club, subject to registration. The French defender has signed a contract until June 2029, with the option to extend for a further year.

“At the age of just 18, Yoro has already played 60 first-team games for Lille OSC. Last season, he was named in the Ligue 1 team of the season having helped his club finish fourth in the league.”

Yoro impressed during his debut last weekend during the Red Devils’ 2-0 win over Rangers at Murrayfield.

Speaking in a recent interview with the club, Yoro said: “When I saw them win the FA Cup, I really wanted to be there!”

Reacting to Yoro’s comment, one United fan said on social media: “Am I the only one that believes that this Leny Yoro guy has been lying throughout his interview.”

Another tweeted: “Bro capping but we’ll believe it.”

A third fan added: “He’s been watching Kobbie’s goal on repeat like the rest of us.”

Someone else wrote: “At this point he gotta be reading all of this answers from a book handed to him by man United media.”

Yoro also mentioned former United man Rio Ferdinand in the interview, he said: “It was like two weeks ago [when I first spoke to Rio],” Leny explained.

“First of all, I was really impressed to speak with him and, yeah, we spoke like 10 minutes about Man United, so he helped me a lot to make my choice. It was really an honour to speak with him.”

The 18-year-old continued: “He spoke to me about the club, and that this is a historic club with a big story, and if I go there I need to fight for the club, to be ready, because this is the biggest club in the world. For me, it was really good to speak about this.”
