Real Madrid could sell 24-year-old star if they sign Alphonso Davies this summer – Reports

Real Madrid could reportedly sell Fran Garcia if they snap up Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies this summer. The Canadian has been at the Bavarian side since 2019.

However, with talks of a contract extension hitting an impasse, there has been been interest in his services, especially from Los Blancos. The 23-year-old has 11 goals and 31 assists in 195 games across competitions for Bayern. That includes three goals and six assists in 42 outings across competitions last season as the Bavarians endured a first trophyless season in 12 years.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have long been in pursuit of Davies, with Bayern apparently keen to sell the player this summer rather than lose him for free in 2025. If Davies heads to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, AS (as per Madrid Universal) report that Garcia could be moved on.

The 24-year-old has contributed a goal and seven assists in 32 games across competitions since the 2018-19 season. All but one of his goal contributions in 31 games came last season as Los Blancos won three titles, including their second La Liga-UEFA Champions League double in three years.

Despite his contract running till 2027, Garcia is considered dispensable and is likely to make way for Davies.

What’s next for Real Madrid?

Having won a record-extending 15th UEFA Champions League title last season, Real Madrid are preparing to take on reigning UEFA Europa League winners Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup in Warsaw on August 14.

Los Blancos are coming off an underwhelming pre-season, though. They commenced their pre-season tour of the US with a narrow 1-0 loss to AC Milan at the Soldier Field in Chicago. Samuel Chukwueze scored the game’s only goal 11 minutes into the second period.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side then slumped to a 2-1 loss to arch-rivals Barcelona at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. A Pau Victor brace either side of the break floored Los Blancos even with Nico Paz pulling one back eight minutes from time.

Madrid concluded their pre-season tour with a win, though, seeing off Premier League giants Chelsea 2-1 at the Bank of America Stadium in North Carolina. All three goals came in the first half.

Lucas Vazquez gave Ancelotti’s side a 19th minute lead before Brahim Diaz made it 2-0 eight minutes later. The Blues reduced arrears through Noni Madueke six minutes before half-time, but an equaliser wasn’t to be.
