Rodrygo has made his feelings clear about joining Man City as Pep Guardiola eyes bid

Rodrygo Goes has made his feelings clear on joining Manchester City amid talk of a summer move.

The Brazilian forward scored home and away against City in this season’s Champions League finals, helping Real get past Pep Guardiola’s side on penalties after a 4-4 aggregate scoreline.

But the former Santos man is being heavily linked with a switch to the Premier League champions, with Jose Felix Diaz of MARCA reporting that City are interested in Rodrygo.

The 23-year-old has scored 17 goals in all competitions but the impending arrivals of compatriot and Kylian Mbappe could mean he moves on in the summer.

Ahead of the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund, he told ‘DAZN’ that “anything can happen” when asked about his future.

But Rodrygo then followed that up with a statement where he felt the need to clarify his comments, claiming they were taken “out of context”.

Taking to social media, he wrote: “Today – on Tuesday – a very annoying situation occurred, where one of my interviews was completely taken out of context.

“To be very direct, I am very happy at Real Madrid, I live a dream every day and it doesn’t cross my mind to leave the club of my life. Now we still have history to make. Hala Madrid and nothing more!”

Rodrygo officially joined Los Blancos in 2019 and has gone on to make 215 appearances, scoring 54 goals and winning three La Liga titles as well as one Champions League.

He still has four years remaining on his deal at the Santiago Bernabeu and though he appears happy, he has spoken of his admiration for City and hailed them as the best team in the world.

As per MARCA, he told GQ Hype: “To be honest, we knew they were better. For me, they are the best team in the world, the one that plays the best football.”
