TRANSFER MARKET: LENY YORO OFFICIALLY JOINS MANCHESTER UNITED, BIG JACKPOT FOR LOSC

Manchester United made official the arrival of French defender Leny Yoro this Thursday evening. The transfer of the 18-year-old player, who has signed for five years, is valued at 62 million euros (plus eight in add-ons).

It’s official, Manchester United has won the battle of the giants. Courted by PSG and then by Real Madrid, Leny Yoro will finally join the English club this summer. The Red Devils made his arrival official from Losc this Thursday evening. “We are pleased to confirm that Leny Yoro has joined the club, subject to registration. The French defender has signed a contract until June 2029, with an option to extend for an additional year,” the press release states.

With a transfer estimated at 62 million euros (plus an additional eight million in the form of possible bonuses), the Losc executive during the 2023-2024 season becomes the third best-selling player by the northern club after Pepe to Arsenal (80M€) and Osimhen to Naples (77), but also the most expensive defender in the history of Ligue 1. He surpasses Benjamin Mendy and the 57 million euros spent by Manchester City during his transfer from Monaco in 2017.

“The perfect place to realize my ambitions”

“Signing with a club of the status and ambition of Manchester United so early in my career is an incredible honour,” said one of the most promising French defenders of his generation. “Since our first discussions, they have set out a clear plan for how I can develop within the club as part of this exciting project, and have shown great care towards me and my family.”

“I know the history of the young players at Manchester United and I think this can be the perfect place to reach my potential and achieve my ambitions, with my new teammates,” continued the 18-year-old Frenchman who will discover the Premier League after playing 60 games for Lille. “I can’t wait to get started.”
