Diaz stays at Liverpool

Manager Arne Slot is planning to stick with Luis Diaz long-term next season, despite reports that he is attracting interest from Manchester City.

Sharing with the media, the Dutch coach said: “It’s not surprising that I hear rumors about Luis Diaz. For the press, everyone talks about the future.”

“Diaz’s future is with us. I like what I see. He has had a big impact at Liverpool and I hope Diaz will have a similar impact next season.”

Arsenal reach agreement with Merino

Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle for Mikel Merino, according to Spanish media.

The Spanish midfielder is expected to join the Gunners from Real Sociedad – after the Basque club held on to Martin Zubimendi amid interest from Liverpool.

This will be the 28-year-old’s second spell in the Premier League, having previously played for Newcastle under Rafa Benitez.

Spurs sign Odobert

Tottenham have announced the signing of Wilson Odobert from Burnley. The young striker was one of the Clarets’ shining lights last season. He will wear the number 28 shirt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Odobert, now 19, scored three goals for Burnley last season.

Ugarte dropped from PSG squad

Manuel Ugarte, a player targeted by Manchester United, has been left out of Paris Saint-Germain’s squad for their Ligue 1 opener against Le Havre.

Manager Pep Guardiola is yet to decide whether Manchester City will sign a replacement for Julian Alvarez.

The Argentine striker moved to Atletico Madrid for a club-record fee , while Oscar Bobb, one of the expected replacements, was sidelined for months with injury.
