Viral Olympics pole vaulter whose ‘rod’ knocked crossbar gets P14.4M offer from porn company

The French pole vaulter who lost the competition after his own “rod” knocked down the crossbar at the 2024 Paris Olympics got a huge offer from an adult entertainment company.

ICYMI, a viral video on X showed Anthony Ammirati in the air, about to clear his 5.70-meter target, when his crotch hit the bar and sent it crashing down the mat. In pole vaulting, athletes must clear the crossbar without dislodging it.

According to TMZ Sports, it obtained a letter from CamSoda stating that it’s offering Ammirati $250,000 (P14.4 million) to show off his “goods.”

“If it was up to me, I’d award you for what everyone else saw, your talent below the belt,” CamSoda Vice President Daryn Parker is quoted as saying in the letter.

“As a lover of crotch-centric activities, I’d love to offer you up to $250,000 in exchange for a 60-minute webcam show, in which you show off your goods, minus the crossbar, of course.”

Parker added that the 21-year-old athlete won’t have to worry about his compression shorts not doing the job, as “he can let it all hang out as much as he wants,” TMZ reported.

Ammirati has yet to publicly react to the offer.

Ammirati, who’s on his Olympic debut, ultimately placed 15th in the competition.

Reacting to his viral performance, the athlete called the results a “big disappointment.”

“I’m a bit gutted, because I didn’t miss anything on the third attempt at 5.70 m,” he said in a statement sent to French Athletics Federation. “What I did miss was a bit of jumping in training to fine-tune the settings.”

Sweden’s Mondo Duplantis, the world’s no. 1 in men’s pole vault, grabbed the gold at the competition. He also cleared 6.25m, breaking his own record. America’s Sam Kendricks, the world’s no. 3, finished with silver, while Greece’s Emmanouil Karalis, the world’s no. 8, got bronze.

The Philippines’ EJ Obiena, the world’s no. 2, missed all three tries at 5.95m, placing fourth in the tilt.
