Xian Lim clarifies breakup with Kim Chiu

Actor Xian Lim has addressed the end of his 12-year relationship with Kim Chiu, revealing that he did not initiate their breakup.

In an appearance on ‘Fast Talk With Boy Abunda’ on Wednesday, Lim discussed the split and its aftermath, confirming that he and Chiu remain friends despite not having spoken since their separation.

“Of course,” Lim responded when asked if he still considers Chiu a friend. He explained that they have not communicated post-breakup out of mutual respect. “Kasi Tito Boy, to be completely honest ever since we went our separate ways, jindi pa po kami nakakapag-usap. But we of course, when that night happened, maayos ‘yung pag-uusap namin. Of course, mayroong iyakan but there was that assurance na we went through 12 years of our existence, it has that respect,” he said.

Lim acknowledged the controversies and rumors that emerged following their breakup, noting the challenges of maintaining a public relationship. “Ang dami kasing kuwento, especially ‘yun nga ang mahirap sa isang public relationship. And they’re been there since day one, nung panliligaw pa lang all the way to more than a decade… People come up with all these made of these lies, kung ano man. But, we released our statement na we both decided to part ways,” he clarified.

Significantly, Lim revealed he did not initiate the breakup. “To be completely honest I wasn’t the one engaged in the separation, ‘yun lang po siya, it’s that simple,” he stated, confirming, “I know they’re saying na…. Yeah, I wasn’t the one who initiated the breakup.”

Reflecting on their supporters’ mixed reactions, Lim expressed understanding and empathy. “I understand why the supporters are angry, I understand why they feel betrayed. Pero masakit rin ‘yun para sa amin. They’re watching us from a distance. Eto kaming dalawa, you know, we have our talks,” he said.

Lim also addressed the criticism directed at him, asserting his clean record over their decade-long relationship. “Nag-usap kami privately. Hindi na kailangan himayin kung sino ang nag-kulang. I think the length speaks for itself, and ‘yung pambabatikos sa akin ng karamihan, I think they should look at it from us … For more than a decade, I never had any … My record is clean, and I am proud of that,” he added.

The actor expressed sadness over the false reports and allegations that have circulated since their split. “It’s just sad na maraming intrigang lumalabas especially against me and I don’t wanna make it seems like na o bakit ‘yan si Xian ang ingay-ingay ngayon, kung ano ano ang pinagsasabi because may promo ng pelikula. It’s just a very delicate thing and I do understand why people are upset, but we are okay,” he said.

Last Friday, Kim Chiu broke her silence on the matter. The Kapamilya actress said, “It ended, the journey was beautiful. Ayaw ko nang maging masama ‘yung loob ko. Kasi paulit-ulit na lang. Let’s give it a rest and let’s leave respect to each other.”
