Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is coming off a monster rookie season that saw him help his team win a Super Bowl. But the offseason celebration may be over following Saturday’s events in Dallas.
According to reports, a vehicle belonging to the second-round pick from 2023 was involved in a “major accident” that has left at least one person in the hospital. Dallas police are now searching for Rice as they investigate the crash that took place on the 75 Central Expressway near Lover’s Lane at roughly 6:20 pm local time on Satrurday.
According to ESPN, the extent of Rice’s involvement and whether he’s facing any charges remains unknown. What we do know is a car that is “registered or leased” to Rice was involved in the multi-car accident.
The highway reportedly had to be shut down for several hours as police investigated the scene, causing major traffic in northeast Dallas. As of 7 am this morning, ESPN claims Rice’s name had not yet appeared in the Dallas County jail records.
Rice was born in Philadelphia, but he grew up in the Fort Worth area of Texas, attending Richland High School before playing his college ball at SMU.
Rashee Rice Has Become A Key Part Of Chiefs’ Offense
After a bit of a slow start to his rookie campaign, Rice really turned it on down the stretch, establishing himself as Patrick Mahomes’ top target at the wide receiver position. Rice finished the season with 938 yards and seven touchdowns in the regular season. And he carried his strong play into the postseason, putting up 26 receptions for 262 yards and a touchdown during the Chiefs’ Super Bowl run.
Rashee Rice is expected to be a major part of the Chiefs’ run at a three-peat in 2024. We’ll see if this latest incident changes that.
