Jose Alvarado’s contribution to the Pelicans’ victory was crucial against the Sacramento Kings. His intelligent playmaking and skill were evident, greatly helping the team’s victory.

In a post-game interview, Alvarado recently discussed his opinions on the team’s recent win and upcoming series against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He was satisfied with the team’s performance and highlighted their winning combination of teamwork and determination.

When the reporter said that they had beaten the Sacramento Kings six times in a row, Alvarado said,

“I don’t know, we did it six times, and I’m glad we did it. But you know we just pay attention to today’s details; you know they love that pocket pass, and we try to take it away.”

He further gave a preview of the upcoming series with the Thunder. He recognized the Thunder’s strength, pointing out their strong roster and tactical style of play. However, he conveyed his belief that the Pelicans could meet the task by attending to their defensive duties.

He said, “With Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander] going downhill he likes to create fouls… It’s playoff basketball so you gotta guard to be in that game. I don’t want though switching and then you know you gotta guard your yard also.”

Jose Alvarado Hits Back At De’Aaron Fox’s Pre-game Remark

Alvarado also highlighted their strategy of putting multiple defenders on De’Aaron Fox to tire him out, which worked like a charm. Even in the sixth attempt, the Kings team couldn’t turn the tables.

However, he couldn’t ignore De’Aaron Fox’s challenge before the game. Fox had remarked, “We’ve lost all five games against that team. You have to step up and beat a team that’s been beating you. It’s not easy to beat a team six times in a row.”

Alvarado then said, “De’ Fox, you know, we put a lot of defenders on him so that we could get him tired.”

Despite the plan, holding off Fox was a huge challenge for the Pelicans, as he finished the night with 35 points, 5 assists, and 7 rebounds. His performances still fell short of beating the Pelicans, who had their victory in the in-season tournament, and convincingly defeated the “Beam Team.”
