After some Kyrie Irving madness at the American Airlines Center on Friday, the Mavericks booked their ticket for the Western Conference semifinals. Everyone applauded the 32-year-old’s explosive second-half display in game 6, and his former HC Tyronn Lue joined in to show his appreciation.

After the game, the Clippers HC acknowledged the magnificence of Kyrie Irving’s performance. He told the press, “He’s very very patient…he’s really figured out how to pick his spots.” Lue also added that Kyrie is not the same kid anymore from 2016 who rushed to kill off the game, he has now matured and reads the game well to make all the right decisions.

The 8-time NBA All-Star only scored 2 points in the first half of game 6. But after the break, Kyrie picked up the tempo and went on to record 28 points, including a highlight reel 4-point play. With every touch of the ball from Kyrie, the crowd in attendance sounded their enthusiasm, and after the game, the man who had seen everything unravel from the front gave his assessment. The man in question is Irving’s teammate, Luka Doncic.

Luka Doncic Lauds Kyrie Irving After Game 6 Win

The other half of the dynamic Mavs duo, Luka Doncic, was only two points behind on the night from his partner in crime, Kyrie Irving. Luka’s 28 points, 13 assists, and 7 rebounds capped off yet another splendid playoff performance in the 114-101 win over the Clippers.

But Kyrie Irving was the man of the hour, and the Slovenian also joined in on the praise. After the game, Doncic assessed Kyrie’s “unbelievable” performance by saying, “To have a guy like that on the team it’s a pleasure. Just working with him, playing with him, it’s a pleasure. No matter what, he’s always positive energy, not even one second of negative energy which helps a lot. Helps everybody. We’re so happy to have him.”

So far this season, Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic have both come up with the correct answers to every puzzle thrown at them. The same trend continues in the postseason, as Doncic and Kyrie are averaging 29.8 and 26.5 points per game. Up next for them is the Western top seed, OKC Thunder, and their series will be underway on Tuesday at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma.
