The Oklahoma City Thunder appeared confident in the Western Conference on Wednesday after they easily won against the New Orleans Pelicans 124-92 in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series at Paycom Center. The Thunder were far more dominant than they were in Game 1, and they now lead the series 2-0. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander played exceptionally well. He scored 33 points and five assists.

Chet Holmgren also had an impressive performance, finishing with 26 points and seven rebounds.

During a post-game interview after the game, Gilgeous-Alexander was asked about Chet Holmgren. He told a story about when he knew Chet.

“The year he got drafted… we played some pick up… and he [Chet Holmgren] was a bigger guy, he was battling physically… I knew Chet had that fire in him,” Gilgeous-Alexander said during the interview.

Chet Holmgren was also impressed by Gilgeous-Alexander’s performance. During an interview, Chet praised Gilgeous-Alexander.

“I have one more thing to say. He’s too humble to say but this is the MVP right here, MVP of the league. I will say it for him because he won’t say it” Chet Holmgren said during the interview.

Gilgeous-Alexander is leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to the top seed in the NBA with an impressive average of 30.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game. He is one of the three contenders for the 2023-24 KIA NBA MVP title along with Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks and Nikola Jokic from the Denver Nuggets.

Despite having the top seed, the first game was closely contested, but SGA managed to save the day with an and-1 in the final seconds, giving Thunder a two-point win. Since Williamson was missing again, the home team wanted to avoid another close game.
