Kim Domingo has officially confirmed her guest role in the hit ABS-CBN series ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,’ clarifying that her involvement is a temporary arrangement and she remains a contract artist with GMA Network.

In a recent interview on Luis Manzano’s YouTube vlog ‘Luis Listens,’ Domingo expressed her surprise and gratitude at being cast in the show. “I can’t believe I’m part of the show—it was very unexpected,” Domingo said. She explained that GMA Network allowed her to be “loaned” to ABS-CBN for this special role, emphasizing her continued loyalty to her home network.

Domingo will be playing the character Madonna in ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,’ a role that marks a significant departure from her previous work. She described the experience as both challenging and rewarding. “I’m very grateful din siyempre to my network (GMA 7) na napagbigyan na makatawid (sa ABS-CBN),” Domingo stated. “Gusto ko itong role kasi bagong challenge at bagong Kim Domingo ito.”

The actress detailed the intense preparation required for her role, including firing training and learning how to handle weapons. “Ito kasi sa Batang Quiapo may baril, may knife, may hand to hand tapos nagpa-firing training din ako para marunong talagang humawak ng baril,” she said. “Kasi ‘yung iba nakasanayan na ‘oh, ‘yung role niyan pa-sweet, sexy.’ Kaya ito bagong Kim Domingo talaga matindi ang karakter ko at masaya ako ro’n.”

Domingo also shared how she was approached for the role. “Unexpected kasi nag-start talaga ‘yan nag-guest ako sa isang event na hindi ko alam na halos lahat pala ng nandu’n ay from ABS and then usap-usap (tsikahan with other guests) may nagsabi na, ‘alam mo bagay ka sa Batang Quiapo, kung bibigyan ka ba ng chance okay ka?’,” she explained.

“Sabi ko ‘yes gustung-gusto ko talagang mapasok dun’. Tapos sabi (kausap ko), ‘malay mo may makapagsabi kay direk CM (Coco Martin) tingnan natin.’”

Luis Manzano humorously noted that some fans initially thought Jessy Mendiola-Manzano was joining the series, but it turned out to be Domingo. “Ang daming nag-congratulations sa akin sabi ko anong nagawa ko at sinabi nga si Jessy, sabi ko bakit buntis (ulit) siya? Tapos sabi nga kasama sa Batang Quiapo, sabi ko hindi,” Manzano laughed.

Domingo expressed appreciation for the support from both GMA Network and ABS-CBN. “Nag-congrats sila sa akin lalo na ang mga bosses,” she said. She also acknowledged the role of social media in promoting her character in the series.

Looking forward, Domingo mentioned her aspiration to take on roles similar to those in psychological thrillers like ‘Gone Girl,’ highlighting her desire for diverse and challenging roles in her acting career.
