De’Aaron Fox, the point guard for the Sacramento Kings, discussed the reasons behind their loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday. He also talked about losing to the Pelicans for the sixth time this season, his second-half performance plans for the upcoming summer, and the uncertain future of teammate Malik Monk due to his upcoming free agency. The Kings have to address the issue of Malik Monk’s uncertain future since he will be available for unrestricted free agency this summer.

During a recent interview, Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox discussed Kings teammate Malik Monk’s impending free agency decision this summer.

“Obviously, I think he was extremely big for us; people who watched us play know that he should be Sixth Man of the Year. But at the end of the day, this is a business, and I feel like what he gave to us in the two years that he has been here, I like he showed his value and what he can do for a team. Money talks… obviously I’d love to have him [Malik Monk] back, but I don’t know what the future holds,” De’Aaron Fox said during the interview.

Prior to his injury, Monk was widely viewed as a strong contender for the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award

Monk had his most productive season before missing the rest due to an MCL sprain. On March 29, Mavericks star player Luka Doncic injured his knee during a Dallas Mavericks game and missed the final nine regular-season games, along with two play-in games.

Despite his injury, Monk could play 26.0 minutes per game and averaged 15.4 points and 5.1 assists, which were both career highs. It was initially predicted that his injuries would keep him out of play for four to six weeks.

Before his injury, Monk was widely viewed as a strong contender for the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award. Although his knee injury harmed his prospects of winning the prize, there has been speculation that he may still be able to do so.

Monk’s leadership skills also improved significantly this season. Coach Mike Brown has praised the Kentucky product for his contributions and impact on the Kings locker room this season.
