The Buffalo Bills lost top wide receiver Stefon Diggs this offseason after they traded him to the Houston Texans, but they seemingly replaced him with a top-5 wideout in Chase Claypool.

The Buffalo Bills announced Friday that they signed wide receiver Chase Claypool to a one-year contract.

Since the Bills traded four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans this summer, Claypool’s presence provides some much-needed receiving depth as Claypool believes he is one the best wide receivers in the NFL.

Following his signing, social media users reminded him of what he previously stated when he was a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

During an appearance on the I AM ATHLETE podcast, he put himself among the elite wideouts in the entire NFL.

“I am not like the rest of the guys in the NFL,” he said. “I know I’m a top-five receiver. I know I’m a top-three receiver.”

In addition to signing Chase Claypool, the Bills addressed wide receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft by selecting Keon Coleman of Florida State as the No. 33 overall choice in the second round.

Chase Claypool Has Opportunity To Get His Career Back On Track

Chase Claypool needs a revamp to his career since it has taken a nosedive after he was traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Claypool had a good start to his career. As a rookie, he ran for two touchdowns and caught 62 receptions for 873 yards and nine scores. In 2021, he had two touchdowns and 860 yards from 59 receptions.

The 25-year-old played for the Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears in 2023. Between the two stints, he had just eight receptions for 77 yards and a score, which continued his startling decline, via ESPN.com.

Playing with Josh Allen, Claypool could revive his career and back up his words of possibly being a top-5 wide receiver.
