NFL fans were making the same joke after news emerged that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has landed himself a special endorsement deal.
The major seed-producing company, Pioneer Seeds, announced on X/Twitter that Brock Purdy is now part of the Pioneer Seeds team. In the ad below, Purdy endorses the new “Pioneer Corn” product:
The company was founded in Des Moines, Iowa, and its headquarters are in Johnston. Purdy himself played college football at Iowa State and spends some of his free time working on the farm (in Iowa) owned by his wife’s family.
Football fans were making one hysterical joke about Purdy following the Pioneer Seeds announcement that 2022 “Mr. Irrelevant” had signed an endorsement deal:
After being selected with the final pick in 2022 (hence the “Mr. Irrelevant” nickname), Purdy signed a four-year rookie contract with San Francisco worth $3.73 million, per Spotrac. That included a base salary of $705,000 in his rookie year, with the number increasing to $870,000 in 2023.
Purdy is eligible for a contract extension in 2025, when he’ll be entering the final year of his rookie contract.
Brock Purdy Carries A Bargain Contract
Brock Purdy has completely outperformed his rookie contract up to this point. He is 17-4-0 in the regular season with 44 touchdowns against only 15 interceptions, not to mention that he’s also 4-2 in the postseason.
Purdy guided the 49ers to consecutive NFC title game appearances to begin his career. His 49ers reached Super Bowl 58 this past season, narrowly falling to Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs in the big game.
With Purdy halfway through his rookie contract, the 49ers now have two years to take advantage of his cheap salary before they have to pay him. And with core players like Trent Williams and George Kittle getting up there in age, pressure is mounting on the 49ers to win while they have this star-studded roster intact.
