Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been a thorn in the side of Buffalo Bills fans for years.

This past year was supposed to be different. The Bills were facing Patrick Mahomes and company at Highmark Stadium in the playoffs, but that was the only change as the Bills could not get the job done again.

Buffalo Bills fans finally had enough of Patrick Mahomes.

Before the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback left Highmark Stadium with yet another playoff victory over their beloved Bills, fans pelted Mahomes with snowballs from the stands.

Mahomes ran past the sideline to greet some fans in the stands wearing Chiefs gear, but then he quickly turned around and was pelted with more snowballs as he ran back onto the field.

Fast forward to this week, and Mahomes is finally calling out the fan base for their behavior.

On a recent appearance on the Impaulsive podcast, Mahomes recalled the moment when he realized how much Bills fans genuinely dislike him.

“This year, definitely, was the more villain-type role for the whole team,” Mahomes said. “I don’t think I really realized it—I heard people talking and obviously social media, there’s people always talking—so I didn’t know how real it was until I got to Buffalo this year.”

“I think I saw 40,000 middle fingers on the way into the stadium,” Mahomes said. “They were ready to go. We go out there and win, I’m trying to hand my headband and sleeve off to a kid, and snowballs are just flying at me.

Over the past few seasons, a fierce rivalry has formed between the Chiefs and Buffalo Bills. In three of the previous four seasons, Kansas City has eliminated Buffalo from the playoffs; in January, they triumphed 27–24 at Highmark Stadium in the divisional round. Bills fans likely blame Patrick Mahomes as the reason the team has not gotten further in the postseason.

Mahomes is already a three-time Super Bowl champion as he helped lift the Kansas City Chiefs to victory in each of the last two Super Bowls.

Regarding the Chiefs’ chances of being the first team in history to win three straight Super Bowls, Patrick Mahomes is optimistic. At the conclusion of the 2024 season, Kansas City’s ace quarterback has all but assured that the Chiefs will raise the Vince Lombardi Trophy once more.

“Next year in New Orleans, we’re gonna do it again,” Mahomes said on the “Impaulsive with Logan Paul” podcast. “I’m putting it on the table. We’re gonna do it again. I’m telling you now.”
