Grok has revealed its picks for the 2024 NFC East standings, and they are sure to shock NFL fans.

The Grok AI chatbot for X/Twitter was created by Elon Musk’s xAI company and was released back in November. The folks at The 33rd Team have been asking Grok for its predictions on the upcoming 2024 NFL season, and their projected standings for the NFC East are certainly noteworthy.

Unsurprisingly, Grok has the Philadelphia Eagles winning the NFC East with a 12-5 record, and the New York Giants finishing last with a 7-10 record. But interestingly, they have the Washington Commanders qualifying for the postseason with a 10-7 record, with Dak Prescott’s Dallas Cowboys finishing behind them at 9-8.

The Commanders haven’t won double-digit games in a season since 2012, while the Cowboys are coming off a third straight 12-win season. So as you might have guessed, social media had a lot to say over Grok’s projections:

At multiple major sportsbooks, the Eagles and Cowboys share the highest odds to win the NFC East. The Commanders were football’s second-worst team in 2023, and the Giants have just one winning season dating back to 2017.

The NFC East Belongs To Dallas Or Philadelphia

The Commanders have had a productive offseason, having hired Dan Quinn as their new head coach and Adam Peters as the GM. They used the No. 2 pick on Jayden Daniels and brought in standout veterans like Austin Ekeler, Tyler Biadasz, Dorance Armstrong, Bobby Wagner, Jeremy Chinn and Bobby Wagner via free agency.

But it’s still difficult to imagine them making the jump to contender in 2024. The Eagles and Cowboys have more star power, experience and depth, and it’d be a giant surprise if neither of them won the division in 2024.

Dallas or Philly have won the division all but one year since 2016 (Washington won it in the 2020 season). As long as both teams play up to their usual standards, the NFC East banner will go to Philly or Dallas in 2024.
