Many have claimed throughout this season that Anthony Edwards is a mirror image of a young version of the arguable NBA GOAT Michael Jordan. The Timberwolves guard is proving them right and has cemented his position further as the future face of the league with a smashing performance on Saturday against the Nuggets.

The Nuggets, who came into the series full of confidence after sweeping the Lakers in round 1, had all the reasons to believe they could outlast the Minnesota side. Jamal Murray showed the same gusto when he went up against Anthony Edwards. Leaked audio from their match-up surfaced on social media where Murray can be heard saying, “You got me?” when Ant-Man took charge of guarding him. The Canadian then follows up by citing, “Oh, this is gonna be fun,” to an equally excited Edwards.

It was a fun encounter, but only for Anthony Edwards, who not only gave the Nuggets guard a hard time but also scored over him to make him eat his words. While the 22-year-old enjoyed the night with a 43-point performance and a dub, things were quite different for Jamal Murray.

When Anthony Edwards took the role of guarding Jamal Murray in the first quarter of the game, Murray seemed charged up, but his battery soon ran out as the Timberwolves man hounded him to a full lockout. It was the first time in his playoff career that Jamal Murray went scoreless in the first half.

Murray finished the game with 17 points in the bag, but the damage was already done as the Timberwolves ran out with the game 106-99. Despite handing Murray a humbling experience, Anthony Edwards spoke highly of the 27-year-old, labeling him the “best closer” in the league. The duo will again lock horns on Monday, and this time indeed, Murray will be more prepared to handle an Anthony Edwards onslaught.
