Perkins suggested that the Lakers should be proud of this series, considering the Nuggets’ previous claim that they were better than the Lakers. He emphasized that the Lakers should take this as a personal grudge and play with determination.
“They should have all the inspiration they need in their locker room. This series should be personal. Remind me, I’m wrong right here, but didn’t the Denver Nuggets say that they’re the Lakers’ Daddy? That’s disrespectful to the utmost. As a former player, going into the postseason, yeah, you have the X’s and O’s. You’re gonna watch film, you’re gonna try to figure out what kind of schemes are going to work.” But in this series, this comes down to pride. Is Anthony Davis going to rise to the occasion? We understand that no one in the world could stop Jokic, but we should have the same energy as Anthony Davis and say that no one on the Denver Nuggets could stop Anthony Davis.” Kendrick Perkins said during the interview.
