The 14-year NBA veteran Blake Griffin recently announced his retirement from professional basketball. Griffin has had an illustrious career in the NBA and has made a name for himself. He was an elite player in his playing days and has played for some of the best teams in the league
Griffin announced his retirement on his official Instagram account on the social media platform. He posted a retirement letter from his account to convey his thoughts to his fans and the community. In the letter, Griffin thanked the fans and the community for loving him and showing him support all these years.
He expressed his deepest gratitude to everyone who has been a part of his journey in the NBA. He also thanked the “not-so-good” memories of his career including the losses he suffered and the heartbreaks that came with them. He also acknowledged his haters and thanked them for the 14 years of his career, labeling it as an unforgettable part of his life.
In his letter, Griffin also added a pun at the end to add a little bit of humor. He initially teased a “next chapter” of his life but then immediately clarified that he was joking and that his retirement was the real deal. Blake last signed with the Boston Celtics for one year in 2023 under the veteran minimum salary, after which any team did not sign him.
Blake Griffin’s career highlights
Blake Griffin was a great player during his prime in the NBA. He started his journey in the NBA with the Los Angeles Clippers, where he played for most of his career. He moved on to Detroit with the Pistons as his new team, where he also found success. However, Griffin’s journey in the NBA was plagued by injuries that held him back from having a more illustrious NBA resume.
The former Clippers star was a rookie of the year in 2011. He has been named to the NBA All-Stars six times in his career. Despite being injury-prone, Griffin never failed to give his best on the court and help his team win. He never won an NBA championship but has cemented himself among the players who will be remembered for a long time.
