Bill Belichick is no longer the head coach in New England. But if he were, he probably wouldn’t draft Drake Maye.

The former North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback was taken off the board as the third-overall pick. And he probably won’t want to hear what his new team’s former coach had to say about him.

Belichick was on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ on draft night this Thursday and shared some of his QB insight with the former NFL kicker. Maye’s footwork was one of the things that came under heavy criticism from the six-time Super Bowl winner.

His footwork needs a lot of work,” Belichick said. “You can see here he’s all over the place, never really sets his feet, never really gets into position to throw. He gets strip-sacked. Too much hopping around. Step up and throw!

Belichick just crushed Drake Maye, focusing on his footwork. New England, hello!” The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand tweeted.

Belichick is probably the last person that should be giving draft advice right now….” another user wrote.

Drake Maye Wasn’t The Only QB To Come Under Criticism From Bill Belichick

Drake Maye wasn’t the only quarterback to come under criticism from Belichick. The likes of Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and J.J. McCarthy were all critiqued.

Maye has come under much negative scrutiny in recent weeks, with his footwork being one of the main subjects. While he was reckless with the football at various points last season, he is expected to have a solid career in the pros.
