The Detroit Pistons’ bench player Malachi Flynn surprised everyone on Wednesday night when he dropped 50 points against one of the better teams this season. His amazing performance took aback the whole community.
Former NBA star Channing Frye also expressed his thoughts on Flynn’s recent achievement. He congratulated the Pistons’ guard and provided insights on the players who are waiting for their opportunity to shine.
Malachi Flynn stuns everyone with a 50-point stunner against the Hawks
Malachi Flynn surprised everyone present at the State Farm Arena when he came off the bench and had a 50-point game against the Atlanta Hawks. It was a massive feat for the Piston’s guard as he set a franchise record with his stunning performance. He became the first player in the history of the Detroit Pistons to come off the bench and score that many points.
He also became the only 8th Pistons player to drop 50+ points in a game, previously the most points Flynn had scored in his career was 27. However, his incredible performance couldn’t save Detroit from falling against the Hawks as they lost with a final score of 113-121. “Right now, it’s tough because, at the end of the day, you want to win,” said Flynn expressing his disappointment after losing the game.
Channing Frye expressed his thoughts on Flynn’s incredible display
“Congratulations to him (Malachi Flynn) but it shows you the quality of guys who are waiting for their opportunity. I mean fifty points! I made thirty-three twice in my career and my arm was about to fly off,” said Frye. He highlighted that there are a lot of talented guys just like Malachi who are waiting for an opportunity to shine. He also highlighted how much effort it takes to score fifty points in a game, he gave an example of himself and reminisced of the time he scored 33 points and his arms were tired.
