Zach Edey has dominated college basketball over the past two seasons unlike many in history.
The 7-4 center won a second consecutive AP Player of the Year award, becoming the first to accomplish that feat since Ralph Sampson won three straight in 1981-83.
It’s not just individual stats this year either. Edey has led No. 1 Purdue to a 33-4 record and the program’s first Final Four appearance since 1980.
The question surrounding Edey isn’t regarding his ability to play college basketball, but rather how he’ll fare in the NBA. He’s foregoing his fifth year of eligibility to enter the 2024 NBA Draft.
Some mock drafts have Edey as a lottery pick, while others have him falling toward the end of the first round. He’s drawn comparisons to Spurs rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama, not for his skill set but rather how the two centers compare in size.
Here’s a closer look at how Edey’s height, weight and wingspan measures up to Wembanyama.
Zach Edey height
Edey is one of the tallest players in college basketball, standing at 7-4. Only Missouri’s Connor Vanover and Ole Miss’ Jamarion Sharp are taller.
The Purdue senior would be tied for the tallest players currently in the NBA.
Zach Edey wingspan
Edey’s wingspan is 7-10.5, which has certainly helped him become one of the game’s best shot blockers. He’s averaging 2.2 blocks per game this year, and it’s his second consecutive season averaging at least two blocks per game.
Zach Edey weight
Edey is listed at 300 pounds, which would make him the heaviest player in the NBA once he goes pro.
Zach Edey vs. Victor Wembanyama measurements
While Edey provides excellent post scoring, his size is what intrigues NBA teams the most. The 7-4 center has drawn comparisons to Wembanyama because of his stature.
