Elijah Canlas has publicly addressed persistent rumors about his sexuality, confidently stating that he is comfortable with who he is.

“Hanggang ngayon naman napagkakamalan ako. Pero I’m fine. I guess it’s a compliment that people believe I’m gay,” he said in an interview with Ogie Diaz.

The young actor emphasized his self-assurance, saying, “Kasi secure ako sa sarili ko. Alam ko kung sino ako. Kilala ko ‘yung sarili ko. I can stay true to myself, and I’m secure with my identity.”

Following his notable performance as a queer character in ‘Gameboys,’ Elijah recently played another gay role. However, he mentioned that this might be his last such role for a while.

“Right now, I don’t see it happening. Nagsabi na rin ako last year nu’ng na-release ‘yung ‘About Us But Not About Us’, this may be my last for a while,” he stated. He added, “Kasi gusto ko mabigyan din ng opportunity ‘yung iba pang queer actors.”

Elijah Canlas began his acting career at the young age of 14. Starting with the independent film ‘Sundalong Kanin’ in 2014, he has risen to prominence for his award-winning performance in the movie ‘Kalel, 15.’ He has garnered a significant fanbase through his roles in films, television shows, and the popular Netflix series ‘Gameboys.’

Currently, he can be seen playing Archie Aguerro in ‘High Street,’ which airs weeknights on ABS-CBN.
