HONG Kong Eastern has expressed interest to take part in the PBA 49th Season as a guest team.

Considered one of the highly successful teams in Asia, HK Eastern has confirmed that is in talks with the PBA about playing in the Commissioner’s Cup.

At the same time, Hong Kong Eastern also wants to join the East Asia Super League.

“We want to play in the PBA as well as the East Asia Super League and our ultimate goal remains playing in the Chinese Basketball Association,” said team manager Oliver Lee Wan-Bok as quoted by the South China Morning Post.

“We believe it’s a good idea to continue seeking regional exposure and play in the highest possible standard of basketball while we wait for progress on the mainland China front,” said Lee.

It also previously saw action in the Asean Basketball League where one of its former players was Christian Standhardinger, formerly from Barangay Ginebra and recently traded to Terrafirma.
