Recent speculations have surfaced on social media suggesting that GMA Network might be in talks to acquire the adaptation of ABS-CBN’s ‘What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim’ for broadcast on their platform, following the successful airing of ‘It’s Showtime’ last week.
However, despite the buzz surrounding the potential acquisition, a source closely involved with the Pinoy adaptation of the series, starring Paulo Avelino and Kim Chiu, has debunked these rumors. According to the source, there is no truth to the speculation that GMA Network is set to air the series.
Ito Lang Un, Showtime will do everything Para umingay ung first airing nila sa GMA. There is no way na ilalagay Nila si K sa alanganin. Jusko naman tong mga super delulu na faney! Focus on the goal guys.#WWWSK

The source expressed uncertainty regarding the origin of the rumors and emphasized that ABS-CBN and Viu Philippines remain committed to broadcasting ‘What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim’ on TV5 in 2024. However, the exact airing date on free TV has yet to be determined.
While the collaboration between ABS-CBN, GMA Network, and Viu for the series has been successful, with the premiere of ‘It’s Showtime’ on GMA Network receiving positive feedback, the rumored acquisition of ‘What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim’ by GMA Network is not part of the collaboration.
It is important to note that Kim Chiu, one of the leads in the adaptation, is also a host of ‘It’s Showtime’ on GMA Network. Thus, during the promotional period for her upcoming series with Paulo Avelino, she may not be able to fully participate in promotional activities on the noontime show.
While future collaborations between networks are anticipated, particularly after the success of the initial partnership, ‘What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim’ is not included in these plans.
