Jake Zyrus recently responded to a netizen’s comparison between him and fellow artist Ice Seguerra. The netizen questioned why Jake didn’t retain his natural singing voice through his transition, unlike Ice.

The netizen’s Instagram post expressed regret over Jake’s decision to sacrifice his renowned voice from his Charice days.

This prompted Jake to address the comment, criticizing the netizen for using his former name and explaining the differences in their transitions.

“First of all, with respect to my past, keep my deadname out of your silly mouth. And darling, it’s because he hasn’t taken any hormone therapy. It’s a HUGE part of being a transman. maybe there are more important reasons why he hasn’t taken hormone therapy.”

“I am not going to explain the rest because based on your comment you sound ignorant. Google is free my darling. I’m going to pin your comment because it seems like you love being center of attention. So let’s give it to you sweetheart. Have a nice day,” Jake wrote.

Jake further elaborated, “Right. You support a trans, and bash another trans because of what? Birit? Yun lang? Make it make sense sis. Hater. Being a transgender is more than just singing high or low notes. And the audacity of you to deadname me and properly call Ice his real name. What a joke.”

The comparison highlighted a common misconception regarding the impact of hormone therapy on a transgender person’s voice.

Unlike Ice Seguerra, who did not undergo hormone therapy and therefore retained his natural voice, Jake’s hormone therapy significantly altered his vocal range.

Some netizens believe Jake’s career suffered due to the change in his voice, while others argue he can still sing like his former self. Fans have shared videos online showing Jake hitting high notes, demonstrating that his talent remains despite the changes.
