The Pokémon community in the Philippines was abuzz with excitement as renowned singer Jason Paige, the voice behind the iconic Pokémon theme song, shared intriguing details about his illustrious career during the recent Pokéverse press conference on May 14.

Paige, who has been a pivotal figure in the Pokémon fandom since 2016, captivated the audience with anecdotes from his career. Among the highlights was his revelation about working with the legendary Michael Jackson. This unexpected disclosure added a layer of depth to the singer’s already impressive résumé.

During the press conference, Paige was asked about his most memorable experiences in the music industry. With characteristic enthusiasm, he recounted his collaboration with Michael Jackson.

“I sang with him in Madison Square Garden and rapped for the ‘Black or White’ solo in an incredible show,” Paige shared. His work with Jackson is a testament to his versatility and talent, having performed alongside one of the greatest entertainers of all time.

Apart from the King of Pop, the singer has also worked with other iconic musicians, such as Ray Charles, Meat Loaf, and Scorpions. He has been a significant figure in the music industry, contributing to numerous memorable performances.

“I popped out of a Pokéball and greeted the adults who were children when the game came out,” expressed the singer.

Expressing his excitement about meeting his Filipino fans, Paige mentioned following several Philippine Pokémon Instagram accounts and his anticipation of experiencing the local Pokémon scene firsthand.

“I can’t wait to meet you all, sing for you all, and catch the Pokémon love that’s there,” he eagerly said.

The press conference highlighted the global influence of Pokémon and its ability to bring people together. Paige acknowledged the widespread love for the franchise, sharing how the Pokémon theme song has been recognized among the top 200 songs of all time in the Netherlands.

“It’s like Steve, Ellie John, Jason Paige, Queen, Rod Stewart—all the greatest musicians in history are right there surrounding the Pokémon theme song,” he proudly noted.

Pokéverse happened on June 12, with Paige and Veronica Taylor (the voice of Ash Ketchum) headlining the premier Pokémon-themed expo.
