Kyle Echarri, who rose to fame after a successful onscreen pairing in “Kadenang Ginto,” said he is eager to take on the challenge of working solo by assuming an important character in the TV drama series “Pamilya Sagrado.”
“I can’t say that I don’t want to be part of any love team anymore and insist on a specific career path, because that was something I’ve gotten used to doing ever since I was starting in this business” said Kyle, who first teamed up with Francine Diaz in the defunct series. “It’s just that, to be given great trust by Dreamscape (Entertainment, producer) to play a significant role in ‘Pamilya Sagrado’ is really something else. I will surely try to own it. I will do my best so that my bosses will not say they made the mistake of choosing me to play the role.”
The 21-year-old added: “My goal right now is to do what makes me happy. This role is something that’s been making me happy.”
In “Pamilya Sagrado,” Kyle plays Moises Malonzo, who forms a brotherly bond with Justine Sagrado (Grae Fernandez) after joining a fraternity. Justine finds himself in hot water following a hazing incident that kills a neophyte. Believing that it would tarnish the Sagrado name, he goes to great lengths to preserve their reputation, even resorting to evil ways. Moises, on the other hand, uncovers something that could expose the darkest secrets of Justine’s family, something that is also linked to his.
Find hope
“What I love about Moises is his pure heart,” Kyle pointed out. “I appreciate how he loves and trusts the people around him—he gives his all. I also like it that in whatever he does, even if he is merely doing it for others, he will make sure that he does it for the right reasons.
“I feel that a lot of people will be able to relate to Moises. With all the bad things happening in the world right now, it’s good that we find hope in people like Moises. His story is something that the audience should watch out for.”
Something to contribute
Meanwhile, Grae said he loved that his character Justine is “super similar” to his own personality. “His passion for race car driving is the only thing in his life that matters to him. I’m like him in the sense that, when I want to accomplish something, I’ll focus on that one thing only.”
On the other hand, Grae dislikes Justine because he is the type of person who would try to achieve something in whatever way he can. “You will see in the series how he tries to tear down other people in the most brutal way. I disagree with him on that 100 percent,” Grae pointed out. “I’m the type who just likes to be in his own lane. We’re the complete opposites when it comes to how Justine tries to dominate other people around him.”
Piolo Pascual plays the influential governor Rafael Sagrado in the series. He explains how his relationship with Grae and Kyle’s characters develop throughout the show. “Justine is my only son, while Moises is the one person whom Rafael helped to become part of the fraternity. He uses Moises as a pawn for something big that will be exposed and tackled midway through the show,” he began.
“It’s really nice working with these two. What they bring to the table is something that will inspire other actors working with them,” said Piolo. “They don’t just listen to their directors or acting coaches. They bring something else to the show. They do their homework, they suggest ideas on how to tackle a particular scene, they like talking out issues related to their characters with the directors. I enjoy collaborating with them. They don’t just follow instructions. They also have something else to contribute.”
“Pamilya Sagrado,” which premiered on June 17, airs weeknights at 8:45 p.m. on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, TV5, Kapamilya Online Live and TFC. The series also streams on iWantTFC 48 hours before its TV broadcast.
