Actress Liza Soberano recently opened up about a peculiar experience involving the late actor AJ Perez, suggesting a haunting connection between them.
During an interview on ‘One Down’ last Saturday, February 17, Soberano discussed the origins of her Twitter account, which stemmed from her admiration for Perez.
“So, you started your Twitter as a fangirl. Can you talk a little bit about that?” asked Tessa Albea.
“Yes. I was a huge fan of AJ Perez because I watched him in this one teleserye called ‘Sabel.’ And it was very unfortunate that he passed away, and that was the reason why I created my Twitter because I wanted to have like some sort of memory of him so I followed him,” Soberano explained.
Soberano recounted an eerie occurrence following Perez’s passing, revealing that she received messages from him after his demise, initially causing her apprehension.
“It was strange because I started receiving messages from him after he had passed away. And at first, I was scared of checking it because I was like ‘what’s going on?’” she shared.
She went on to explain that she eventually realized the messages were from Perez’s family, and she even formed a bond with his younger brother, Gelo, and their family.

The timing of Perez’s death was particularly poignant for Soberano, as it coincided with the day of her audition to enter showbiz, deepening her sorrow upon hearing the tragic news.
“I really wish that I could have had the chance to work with him,” she lamented.
AJ Perez tragically passed away on April 17, 2011, at the tender age of 18, due to a vehicular accident.
