It’s ridiculous, says SGA import

CHRIS McCullough took exception to comments on social media related to his off-night on Sunday in Strong Group Athletics-Pilipinas’ title-clinching win in the 43rd William Jones Cup.

A number of fans cast doubts on McCullough’s play after he finished with 12 points on a cold 4-of-16 shooting in their 83-79 win over Chinese Taipei-A.

He was later named MVP.

McCullough obviously read the comments, and responded on his X, formerly Twitter, account by saying that the “slander” against him is “ridiculous.”

“I always rep the flag where ever I played so for some of you fans who’s saying all of this nonsense is ridiculous,” wrote McCullough shortly after SGA claimed the crown.

“Because I didn’t have the best game in a championship game now I fix games? Come on now. It happens and it is what it is. It’s always the next man up,” McCullough closed.

The former San Miguel import instead hailed the play of Tajuan Agee, who scored a team-high 21 points in a game that saw SGA overcome a seven-point deficit late in regulation to complete an eight-game sweep of the tournament.

“T stepped up big tonight! That’s next man up mentally. He picked up my slack and got the job done,” said McCullough.

McCullough had made his desire known to become a naturalized player for the Philippines after his stint with San Miguel in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Recently, McCullough confirmed he has received an offer to become a naturalized player for Taiwan, the country where he has been plying his trade for a couple of years.

A couple of fans also showed support to McCullough following the accusations.
