MANILA–Myke Henry will be NLEX’s import for the upcoming PBA Governors’ Cup.
The team confirmed in a statement on Wednesday night that the 31-year-old swingman has signed on to be its foreign reinforcement for the season-opening conference beginning Aug. 18.
Henry, listed at six-feet-six, has embarked on a journeyman career since turning pro in 2016 following collegiate basketball careers at Illinois and DePaul.
Henry first played with the Oklahoma City Blue in the NBA G-League before joining Rayos De Hermosillo in Mexico.
Impressed with Henry’s second run with the OKC Blue, the Memphis Grizzlies signed him to a two-way contract for the rest of the 2017-2018 season, bouncing around their main squad and their G-League affiliates, the Memphis Hustle.
Henry then had stops in Italy, France, Greece, and Poland before making his way to Satria Muda in the IBL, where he found himself battling Ginebra’s resident import Justin Brownlee when he was still with Pelita Jaya.
Making a return this year after the 2023 edition was postponed, the Road Warriors look to begin the 2024-2025 season–and their Uichico era–on a high note after making the quarterfinals in the Philippine Cup, what would be Frankie Lim’s last conference as their head coach.
