Amidst his status as one of the hottest actors in the Philippines, Paulo Avelino candidly admitted on April 5 that his love life currently resides at what he humorously termed “basement 5.”

Speaking at a press conference for his upcoming Viva film ‘Elevator’ at Viva Cafe, Avelino jokingly acknowledged his single status. “Hindi ko rin kilala eh, hahaha,” he quipped with a chuckle.

Expanding on his romantic situation, he added, “Ako, kung nasaan… parang ako nasa ano eh… nasa basement 5. Hindi talaga ako magaling sa mga ganitong bagay.”

Despite his lighthearted approach to discussing his love life, Avelino expressed confidence in his ability to navigate life’s challenges, commending himself for his resilience.

“Sa akin naman, siguro for someone who started na walang ideya sa mundong ito, walang idea sa pag-arte, hanggang ngayon naku-culture shock pa rin ako sa industriya natin,” he admitted. “Siguro masasabi ko sa sarili ko noong time na iyon na, na you’ll survive. Makakayanan mo rin ang mga nangyayari sa buhay mo at sa career mo.”

Avelino also shared his approach to maintaining humility and self-assessment during both the highs and lows of his career and personal life.

“Ako naman, during my ups, I try my best to keep myself grounded and remember how I started, where I came from, and ‘yung mga struggles ko sa buhay na nagdala sa akin. And when I’m down, parang ako po kasi I always self-assess. Minsan, I think like—hindi ko naman sinasabing para sa lahat ng tao—pero when you self-reflect in isolation, parang mas naiintindihan mo ‘yung mga bagay na kailangan mong baguhin, mga mali na nagagawa mo sa buhay.”

This year, Avelino has been involved in numerous projects, including the Filipino adaptation series ‘What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?’ and the ongoing teleserye ‘Linlang.’

Meanwhile, his latest film, ‘Elevator,’ is set to hit cinemas on April 24.
