Ronnie Liang and Atty. Harry Roque have become the focus of social media attention due to viral videos depicting their lighthearted interactions.

In these videos, Atty. Roque appears in high spirits, engaging in playful banter with Ronnie Liang during a boat trip, including joking remarks about going “topless.” Another video captures Atty. Roque teasing Ronnie about his public image and physique.

These clips gained traction after it was disclosed that Alberto Rodulfo “AR” dela Serna, a former Mister Supranational, was accompanying Atty. Roque on his travels.

Responding to the online buzz, Atty. Rafael Calinisan, a public interest lawyer representing Ronnie Liang, clarified the nature of their encounter.

“We would like to clarify that our client, Mr. Ronnie Liang has no ‘personal dealings’ with Atty. Harry Roque,” asserted Atty. Calinisan.

He explained that Ronnie Liang had visited Dinagat Island in July 2022 to distribute relief supplies to Typhoon Odette victims, as part of his duties with the Philippine Army Reserve. During a tour of the island with military personnel, police, and local officials, Ronnie Liang casually crossed paths with Atty. Roque and graciously participated in his vlog.

“Ronnie only chanced upon Atty. Roque after the humanitarian aid mission, during the tour of the island,” Atty. Calinisan added, dispelling any misconceptions about their relationship. “While Ronnie and I personally had a good laugh watching the videos, instead of these innuendos, our efforts are better spent investigating the ill-effects of POGOs in the country, or pushing for laws that advocate gender equality.”

Ronnie Liang also took the opportunity to express his support for the LGBTQIA+ community. “I am a proud ally of the LGBTQIA+ community,” Liang affirmed. He commended Mayor Joy Belmonte and PridePH for organizing the Love Laban 2 Everyone Pride Festival, noting Quezon City’s prominent role in hosting the largest Pride event in Southeast Asia last year.

Additionally, Ronnie Liang highlighted his NGO, the Ronnie Liang Project Ngiti Foundation, which offers free surgeries for individuals with cleft lip and palate, underscoring his commitment to social causes.
