Nadia Montenegro hoped to “put an end to the open secret,” as she officially confirmed Baron Geisler as the father of her 17-year-old daughter, Sophia, stressing that it was her story to tell.

Sitting down on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Friday, July 19, Montenegro came unfiltered as she stressed that “no one has the right to tell her story” even after “someone” revealed it 17 years ago, apparently referring to Geisler.

“I’ve already admitted that. Yes,” she revealed. “Sophia is turning 18 in August. And that’s why I’m here; it’s not for views, not to trend, because that’s one thing I hate, but to put an exclamation on everything.”

“17 years ago, may isiniwalat ang isang tao tungkol sa buhay ko na, I don’t think anybody has the right. Kasi noong time na ‘yun, inaayos ko lahat. Hindi man lang kinonsider [na] 17 years ago, kung ano ang pinagdadaanan ko, ng mga anak ko, kung ano ang puwedeng mawala sa akin. Itong sinasabi ko ngayon na ako’y nagka-anak,” she said, adding that it’s happening again as people feastered on her story following Geisler’s recent interview.

Montenegro stressed that it is her “mistake,” as her daughter doesn’t deserve to constantly get dragged into the issue.

“This is my mistake. Kung nagkamali man ako. I don’t want to even call it a mistake. Sophia is one of the most beautiful girls you can ever meet. Not just sa mukha niya, pati puso niya. This child has been through so much that she does not deserve,” she expressed.

The “Ang Probinsiyano” actress revealed that her daughter and Geisler have always been in contact with each other through social media.

“Pinangakuan siya na ‘Sige magkikita tayo ng isang beses, pero walang makakaalam.’ Tito Boy, sila ang magkausap, hindi ako nakialam,” she shared. “They were always in contact, Tito Boy. From social media, but never, like, you know, na, ‘[hidden],’ walang gano’n. It was just, ‘I’m okay.’ Walang gano’n (pagkikita).”

Montenegro then justified the reason she tried to detach her daughter from her real father.

“Huwag nating kalimutan na, bakit ba tumagal nang ganito? Tito Boy, unlimited chances for someone to change. Give me a reason na ipaharap kita sa kaniya nang sober ka. The drunk messages. The drunk text to my daughter. You think that would help her?” she stressed.

The 52-year-old actress underscored that Geisler spoke about her daughter in an interview without even asking their permission, which led to Sophia’s being bullied.

“You came out in an interview all of a sudden without even asking us? Even if you didn’t mention my name, sa tingin mo hindi kami nabulabog? Did you even think for a while what would happen to your daughter?” she said, apparently addressing Geisler.

“She was bullied. Someone all of a sudden just posted on the student council page a picture of Baron in jail. ‘Kaninong tatay ito?,’” shared the actress. “Kailangan ko pa bang ikuwento kung ano ang pinagdaanan namin just to keep our peace? This is my life. This is my children’s lives. This is my story, Tito Boy; no one has the right to tell my story.”

Montenegro affirmed that she doesn’t need a spokesperson to explain her mistakes.

“I’ve always owned my mistakes, but let me say, kung ano ang pagkakamali ko, hindi ikaw, hindi ko kailangan ng spokesperson,” she stressed. “I want this to end because my daughter’s turning 18 soon, and she does not need to come out of this world and answer questions for her mother.”

The “Sandakot na Bala” actress also shared that her late husband, Boy Asistio, knew about Geisler being the father of Sophia, and that hey had a closure before he died.
