Actress and entrepreneur Maricar Reyes has once again earned the admiration of many for her courage in facing the challenges brought by a controversial video scandal in 2009.

The scandal, involving her former partner Hayden Kho, placed Maricar in the spotlight, forcing her to endure a tumultuous period in her life.

During her appearance on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ on August 19, Maricar shared her decision to publish her experiences in a book.

According to the actress, she realized that her worth was not defined by her external reputation but by her ability to confront and accept her past mistakes.

After the incident, Maricar admitted that she had considered taking legal action against those involved. However, she ultimately decided that it was not the right path for her.

“In theory, not to ano naman din the justice system, it’s there for a reason. But the path that’s being presented to me, hindi para sa akin,” she said.

Rather than naming the individuals involved in the scandal, Maricar chose to focus on sharing her journey to inspire other women who are also going through dark times in their lives.

Her husband, Richard Poon, was one of her main supporters as she worked to accept herself and rise above the controversy. Richard explained that Maricar’s book was not intended to blame others but to highlight her accountability and the lessons she learned from her experiences.

Despite everything, Maricar Reyes has proven that it is possible to rise again and accept one’s vulnerabilities as a path to a brighter future.
