Xian Lim admitted without hesitation that he did indeed call his ex-girlfriend Kim Chiu to discuss their breakup.
However, he firmly denied that he contacted the TV host-actress to inform her about his new relationship with film producer Iris Lee, contrary to circulating rumors.
“When this story first came to me, I didn’t understand it, to be honest. There’s also no truth to it. But I’ll say this, the truth is that I really did call Kim,” Xian clarified in an interview with the Inquirer.
He further elaborated, “When we parted ways, there were various stories coming out. Some parties are purposely becoming noisy. This was also the time when my family started getting messages that were below the belt. If I may give an example for the sake of context, there was an instance when they said, ‘Sana mamatay na ang lola mo.’ They even brought up her cancer.”
Xian revealed that these hurtful messages came from a supporter who was previously close to them, almost like family. The situation escalated significantly in the two weeks following their breakup, prompting Xian to make the call to Kim.
“This was around November. I was actually begging Kim, saying we should release a statement that we’ve already gone our separate ways, that we separated on good terms at walang sigawan,” Xian recounted.
Xian emphasized that his intention was to avoid any conflict between them and to set the record straight. He mentioned that Kim indicated they could address the issue “in time,” which eventually happened late in December, before Christmas.
“I don’t know why they decided for us to do it then. I was just glad that we both got to release statements. I guess some people, whoever they are, want us fighting,” Xian reflected on the controversial breakup.
Since then, Xian disclosed that they haven’t spoken after the statement was released, but assured that they parted on good terms.
In a separate magazine interview, Xian confirmed his relationship with Iris, stating, “Yes, I’m seeing Iris. Just to clear everything, to clear all the speculations. We are seeing each other and we are very happy.”
