Conor McGregor has fought mostly in boxing during his 15-year MMA career, emphasizing striking over grappling and jiu-jitsu exchanges. His fighting style is fast-paced and aggressive, and he likes to be the one putting forth pressure.
McGregor is a counterpuncher in his fighting technique, even though he enjoys applying pressure and maintaining control over the middle of the cage. With his long 74″ reach, which is 5 inches longer than his 5’9″ height, he can control the range and put opponents on the defensive by jabbing and kicking.
In addition to dealing damage and getting points, he also baits opponents and waits for them to get close before using his superb footwork and movement to dodge and counter with strong, accurate punches, particularly with his left.
Conor McGregor Demonstrates His Love For Boxing In NYC
McGregor stays in the fight by keeping his opponents at a distance and taking the initiative. He also leans forward, ready to counter and quickly reposition his head and foot to avoid takedowns and blows.
While they’re retreating, his opponents find it more difficult to attempt takedowns and start clinches. Although McGregor mostly uses boxing strikes and a “keep the fight standing” strategy, he is also greatly influenced by karate, taekwondo, and capoeira.
It is not surprising that Conor McGregor boxed Floyd Mayweather following his enormous success in the UFC, given boxing was the first combat sport he learned at the age of 12.

Nineteen of his twenty-two MMA victories have come via knockout, demonstrating the effectiveness and lethality of his boxing, which he uses in every UFC bout. Seventeen of the 19 knockout victories were via punches, one via corner stoppage (TKO), and the other through elbows.
He ranks 14th among UFC fighters with highly positive ape ratings, and he has a reach of 74″. His lengthy reach has a big impact on his boxing-heavy UFC fighting style.
